Why we never hear from Droz anymore?
I was watching back some old WWE shows on the WWE Network earlier (only $9.99 you know folks!) and I was suprised to see Droz make an appearance ... not because of the show, but because we haven't heard anything from him for years, if not a decade.
For those not in the know, Droz was pulled in to the WWE from ECW in 1998 and was immediately heralded as an up and coming star. He was first paired with Albert (of the Prince variety) in the tag team scene ... they had moderate success at the bottom-rung of a hugely popular tag-team scene at the time. From where, Droz was paired up with the ailing Legion of Doom - apparently because Hawk's work was not so good these days and they thought Droz may be able to carry the team from the workrate side.
Once the LOD membership expired, Droz got put back into the singles scene in late 1999 and found himself facing D-Lo brown in a match. Somehow during the match, D-Lo went to execute his running powerbomb and Droz landed straight on his head, paralysing him from the neck down.
Of course this ended his wrestling career right there. Now facing life in a wheelchair, Droz made the occasisonal writing appearance for the WWE magazine or was featured briefly or mentioned on air as a nice 'tip of the hat' to one of its hurt brood. But now I can't remember the last time I heard an update on how Droz is or what he's doing.
It'd be nice to see him at least featured on WWE.com .. The guy did get hurt 'on watch' and it would be nice to see the WWE show a compassionate side to one of their fallen (Dynamite Kid, who also got hurt in their ring with an injury that resulting in him being in a wheelchair would also apply to this). If nothing else, it should remind the current roster of the potential risk that even the most tried-and-tested move can have - and to not risk it all doing silly stunts.
